About Design For Humanity
Built upon Billabong’s philosophy of ‘Be the change you want in the world’, Design for Humanity is Billabong Girls’ charitable division and challenges all of us to lead by example and make a difference in the world.
Design for Humanity allows Billabong to empower, encourage and promote awareness of environmental and humanitarian issues revelant to the youth of today through fundraising and promotions. All activites are centred around a chosen charity and aim not only to benefit that cause, but to celebrate the environment, fashion, music and art.
After taking LA and Paris by storm, Billabong held the first ever Design For Humanity event in Australia, in Sydney at The Forum on Wednesday 18 February 2009. The worlds of fashion, music and art collided in a unique celebration of creativity which raised much-needed funds for SurfAid International.
Billabong proved that it was more than simply a surf brand with this special charity event. Kicking off the night in fine style, Ashleigh Mannix delivered a spine-tingling version of Hallelujah while footage highlighting the incredible work SurfAid is doing in the Mentawai Islands was played. Guests were then treated to a dazzling runway presentation of new season looks & bikini fashion which featured stunning US model and Sports Illustrated cover girl 2007 and 2008, Tori Praver.
CASSETTE KIDS then brought their passion and energy to the party with a fabulous set & throughout the evening, cutting-edge DJs Bag Raiders took the energy to a new level.
