The So Cal Experience with Courtney

About a week ago I arrived home from the city of angels (Los Angeles). While I was there I was lucky enough to have stayed with LA locals, the Conlogue’s. Courtney and I both competed in the world’s biggest surfing event on the planet - the Nike US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach. It was crazy at the contest site it pretty much looked like a circus had come to town and posted up for the week
at the beach with hundreds of thousands of people coming to watch what this event had to offer. Here are a couple of shots with what we got up to during my time there.

CA

I think that this is the best photo that I got to get any sort of idea of how many people show up to watch the world’s best surfers at the biggest event in surfing history to date.

Courtney and I were lucky enough one-day to go up to tower zero. This is the main lifeguard tower and it’s on the Huntington Pier. It was so cool up there, they have these massive binoculars that are super old and you can see up to 10km’s down the beach. Not many people are allowed up there so we were really lucky. Only with a local haha

While I was there it was my birthday. We celebrated it at Dukes and I was recommended that for a birthday cake we get the Hula pie. It was so good but so sweet. I could only mange a mouthful haha

Like I said the circus had definitely come to town.

I can still not believe it we got to see MGMT LIVE andddd FREE where else does that happen but at the US Open haha? Did I mention that we were also VIP? I am never going to forget that! The other photo is of all the bikes that were down at the contest site every day… unbelievable…

Hope you enjoyed the happy snaps, Ciao

Felicity - Wow I have never seen your artwork before and how impressive!! I have just got back from Bali and we spent sometime in Ubud with my artist friend going to galleries. You are a girl with many talents. I'm on my fittness drive still and climbed Mt Batur Kintamani volcano to see the sun rise.
